U2, Westlife shortlisted for Brits

(RTE.ie) -- U2 and Westlife are among the nominees for this year's Brit Awards.
U2 are nominated in two categories: Best International Group and Best International Album for 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb'.
They face competition on the International Group shortlist from Arcade Fire, Black Eyed Peas, Green Day and the White Stripes.
Arcade Fire ('Funeral') and Green Day ('American Idiot') are also nominated for Best International Album, along with Kanye West ('Late Registration') and Madonna ('Confessions on a Dancefloor').
Westlife are nominated for Best Pop Act, along with James Blunt, Katie Melua, Kelly Clarkson and Madonna.
Blunt and Kaiser Chiefs have received the most nominations, five each.
Other shortlisted artists in the various categories include Bruce Springsteen, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Kate Bush, Gorillaz, Franz Ferdinand, Oasis, Charlotte Church, KT Tunstall, Will Young, Arctic Monkeys and Hard-Fi.
The awards will take place in London on 15 February.
