U2 nominated for MTV Europe awards

(RTE.ie) -- U2 have been nominated in three categories for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards.
The band are nominated in the Best Group, Best Rock and Best Album ('How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb') categories.
Coldplay and Gorillaz top the shortlists with five nominations apiece.
Gorillaz are nominated in the Best Group, Best Song ('Feel Good Inc'), Best Video ('Feel Good Inc'), Best Pop and Best UK and Ireland Act categories.
Coldplay make the shortlists for Best Group, Best Rock, Best Song ('Speed of Sound'), Best Album ('X&Y') and Best UK and Ireland Act.
Gwen Stefani has received nominations for Best Female, Best Pop, Best Album ('Love, Angel, Music, Baby') and Best Video ('What You Waiting For?').
James Blunt and 50 Cent also have four nominations each, while Green Day and Snoop Dogg have three.
Among the artists who will perform at the awards show in Lisbon on 3 November are Coldplay, Robbie Williams, Green Day, the Foo Fighters and the Black Eyed Peas.
The awards show will be hosted by Borat Sagdiyev, the comedy character played by Ali G creator Sacha Baron Cohen.
