U2 join the Hall of Fame

Posted on Tuesday, March 15 @ 23:11:54 CET by Macphisto
-----------------------------------------------

(The Sun) -- THIRTY years after they formed in a Dublin school, U2 have joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr were inducted alongside the O'Jays, Percy Sledge, The Pretenders and Buddy Guy.

They rewarded the crowd at the Waldorf Astoria by performing four songs, including a rousing rendition of I Still Haven't Found What I’m Looking For with Bruce Springsteen.

On accepting the honour from Bruce, guitarist The Edge talked about how difficult it was for the band to stay original and avoiding lapsing into self-parody over a long career.

He added that the moments of magic music can create are worth the effort and the oddities of the lifestyle.

"When it is great, it is amazing," he said. "It changes your life."
