Missing U2 album belonged to Edge

Posted on Friday, July 16 @ 12:16:46 CEST by Macphisto
-----------------------------------------------

(RTE.ie) -- As French police investigate the disappearance of a rough cut of U2's new album, Edge has revealed that the missing CD belonged to him.

On the official band website, the lead guitarist said: "A large slice of two years work lifted via a piece of round plastic. It doesn't seem credible but that's what's just happened to us...and it was my CD."

The CD went missing while the band were shooting photographs for the cover of the new album at the Studios Riviera in Nice.

U2 recently completed much of the recording of the album - tentatively named 'Vertigo' - in Dublin and have been involved in post-production work in France.

This will be the band's first studio release since 2000's 'All That You Can't Leave Behind'.

U2 may now have to advance the release date of the album to off-set the damage that could be caused if the missing CD makes its way onto the internet, costing the band and record company millions in lost sales.

Paul McGuinness, Principle Management said "The recording of this album has been going so well. The band is so excited about it's release. It would be a shame if unfinished work fell into the wrong hands."

"This matter is of great concern to us," said Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group UK. "As the missing CD is our property, we're very keen to find it as soon as possible and the French police are being extremely helpful in this regard."
