The three hour Opening Ceremony will be watched by the 75,000 in attendance, and it will be broadcast live on Ireland's RTE television.

The ceremony will be attended by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, Special Olympics founder, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, and former South African President Nelson Mandela, among others.
