(Ananova) -- U2 have vowed to maintain a base in the Dublin docklands after the Irish planning authorities ruled their recording studio should be demolished as part of a development.
The band contested the demolition plan at an appeal hearing earlier this year on the grounds that the building constituted musical heritage.
But the Irish planning board directed that the development could go ahead.
The studio involved has been used by U2 since 1994, and they recorded their current hit album All That You Can't Leave Behind there.
In a statement after the decision was announced, U2 said arrangements had been made with the Dublin Docklands Development Authority to move to a new building in the area.
