U2 Wins 'Best Concert' Trophy At Austin Music Awards

(Launch.com) -- Grammy winners U2 received another honor this week--best concert by a touring band--at the Austin Music Awards in Texas. The ceremony, held Wednesday (March 13) at the Austin Music Hall to kick off the annual South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival and conference, focused on locally bred talent, although many of the winners enjoy a degree of national stature.
Eric Johnson, for instance, was named best electric guitar player, while singer-songwriter Bob Schneider dominated the proceedings with four awards: musician of the year, best male vocalist, best songwriter, and best singer-songwriter.
Hard rockers Pushmonkey, meanwhile, were honored with trophies for best metal/industrial band and best CD cover art for its album, El Bitche.
U2 was not on hand to receive its award.
