Quincy Jones Honors U2's Bono

Posted on Saturday, February 16 @ 15:51:32 CET by Macphisto
-----------------------------------------------

(Launch.com) -- (2/16/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Quincy Jones was one of the numerous entertainers that came out to honor U2 singer Bono for his philanthropic efforts Thursday night (February 14) in Hollywood. The Love Rocks event, held at the new Kodak Theatre, featured musical performances by R.E.M. with Cher, No Doubt, and Lauryn Hill. The Love Rocks gala also served to launch the EIF's National Cardiovascular Research Initiative, which will give $3 million in first-year support to battling cardiovascular disease.

Prior to the event, Jones shared his thoughts on Bono with LAUNCH. "We met a long time ago. He was living next door to me when he did Rattle And Hum, and he did the millennium with me in Washington. That's my brother, and as a musician, or a husband, or a father, or a humanitarian, it's the same person. That's where it all comes from. He's one of the few people in the world that I want to be out here to, to support."

As for his own agenda, Jones's recently released Q: The Autobiography Of Quincy Jones continues to receive rave reviews. We asked the 68-year-old entertainer if he would consider writing another book. "No, no, no, no! Not soon, man. I'll be 80 by the time the next book comes out."
