U2 Guitarist Saddened By Death Of Big Country Frontman

Posted on Friday, December 21 @ 06:54:43 CET by Macphisto
-----------------------------------------------

(Launch.com) -- The Edge is saddened by the death of former Big Country frontman Stuart Adamson. The singer-guitarist writes on U2's website (u2.com), "He was a great inspiration to me when U2 were starting out. His first band the Skids made such a big noise and with songs like 'Into The Valley' and 'The Saints Are Coming' made most of the other music of the time seem mundane and insignificant...Stuart made some great music during his career and his character came through everything he did. He had a heart as big as a mountain and he was a real romantic soul. He will be missed by all who loved his music and even more by those lucky enough to know him personally."

Adamson, who was missing for more than a month, was found hanged in a room at the Plaza Hotel in Honolulu on Sunday (December 16), and local authorities have ruled his death a suicide. His last known communication was to his 7-year-old son Calum on November 7, which said, "Back by noon Sunday."
